Her Story
About Helen
I am a managed care and payor contracting executive with over a decade of experience in healthcare contracting, strategic negotiation, and operational leadership across hospital systems, children's hospitals, and community health organizations, currently serving as Vice President of Managed Care and Payor Contracting at MemorialCare, a role I have held since February 2024, where I provide strategic, financial, and administrative oversight of managed care contracting and operations with commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid managed care payors. I collaborate with the executive management team to negotiate all HMO, PPO, FFS, Work Comp, ACO, and other value-based arrangements, develop contractual financial performance standards, evaluate market opportunities for direct employer contracting, and manage all contracting-related issues across Medical Management, Claims, Finance, Eligibility, and Billing departments.
Prior to this role, I spent four years at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where I served as Executive Director of Enterprise Payor Contracting and Relations for eight months and as Director of Payor Contracting for over three years, overseeing managed care policies, pricing, and negotiation strategy, managing payor relationships on behalf of the enterprise, and leading interdepartmental teams to operationalize contracts and resolve issues with health plans and third-party payors.
Before that, I served as Director of Contracts and Payor Relations at Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties for three years, where I oversaw primary care patient enrollment, provider enrollment, credentialing, and contracts, collaborated with stakeholders to develop new service lines, converted primary care fee-for-service to capitated contracts, and built and maintained relations with payers and managed care organizations. I also served as Consultant for Quality Improvement at Elevation Health Partners and as Senior Manager of Project Management at ZirMed, where I worked with health systems to design custom reports for cost and utilization, quality measures, and operational performance for ACOs and health plans.
Across my career in managed care, payor contracting, and healthcare operations, my work has been driven by a commitment to building strategic partnerships, improving financial and operational performance, and ensuring access to high-quality care for patients and communities. Whether I am negotiating complex contracts, leading cross-functional teams, or developing value-based arrangements, I bring a strategic mindset, deep industry expertise, and a dedication to advancing healthcare delivery and financial sustainability. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue leading managed care and payor contracting initiatives at MemorialCare.
