Her Story

About Hilda

Hilda Ramirez brings more than three decades of customer service expertise to her professional journey. She began her career at CVS Pharmacy in a front-end customer service role shortly after high school, which led to a teller position at First National Bank of Abilene. Over 13 years at the bank, she progressed from retail teller to commercial teller, mastering vault balancing and high-volume transactions while benefiting from mentorship by experienced colleagues. Ramirez later applied her skills in hospitality, first working with a local investor managing properties and then partnering with her brother to launch and operate an Airbnb platform with two home listings, handling all aspects from bookings to guest relations and maintenance. She is now transitioning into social work, with an upcoming interview at a local nonprofit in Abilene, Texas, where she will help low-income families manage utility costs. Throughout her career, Ramirez has emphasized relationship-building, continuous learning, and maintaining a vision for personal and professional growth.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women is to have a broad outlook and constantly talk about my interests because when you focus on those interests they grow into something great. Apply the faith principle, believing in things you can't see yet and put one foot forward. Speak out in faith and make small decisions into the workforce that will open a door. The industry is relationship, if you don't ask for help they don't know. Put that foot forward and speak the positive things that you want to obtain and achieve. I am a very visual learner and have a vision board, mental vision board with things like a better house, better car, advancing quality of life. Work towards it by taking steps like needing a better paying job or certificate, don't be a couch potato.
