Her Story

About Hildur

Hildur Palsdottir serves as Eco-Dharma Coordinator at Natural Dharma Fellowship, coordinating year-long programs such as Rewilding the Soul that integrate contemplative practice with ecological awareness. She holds a PhD from the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics, where she studied the respiratory chain and foundations for life, and completed Earth Awareness Teacher Training with the Sky Mind Institute. After working as a research scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Hildur transitioned in 2008 to grassroots environmental work, including volunteering with Three Sisters, Women Seeding Chains, prompted by a chemical spill during her pregnancy and growing climate concerns. She began teaching mindfulness in 2017, emphasizing nature-based practices that foster reconnection with the natural world. Hildur founded Rewild Long Island and holds roles with the Center for Earth Ethics, Transition Town Port Washington, Long Island Conservancy, and the Long Island Coyote Study Group. She attributes her success to incredible teachers, a nurturing community, and friends, and values integrity, ethics, and kindness in her work.
