Her Interview

Ten minutes with Hina

01What do you attribute your success to?

The key factor to my success has been determination and staying consistent. There were times where I thought this might not be the right path, but I stayed consistent, made sure I was staying in the same area, learning more, and growing more. The consistency, hard work, and determination played a very crucial role in making me what I am today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never limit yourself to the traditional path defined by your degree or your first job. Your education gives you a foundation, but your career is shaped by your willingness to explore, learn, and take opportunities outside your comfort zone.

Coming from a healthcare background, I learned that my career did not have to be limited to clinical practice. Exploring public health, healthcare technology, EHR implementation, consulting, research, and eventually project and program management allowed me to discover where my strengths and passion truly aligned.

I also learned not to measure every career decision by its immediate reward. Sometimes a role or opportunity may not seem like the obvious next step, but the experience, relationships, and skills you gain can become extremely valuable later. Think long term, keep learning, explore your potential, and build a career around work that gives you both purpose and passion.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

When someone is starting their career, I always encourage them not to hesitate to explore different paths. The journey may not always be easy, and sometimes the rewards are not immediate, but it is important to think about your long-term goals rather than choosing only the most obvious career path.

For example, someone graduating in nursing, medicine, or another healthcare field may naturally consider a clinical or hospital-based career, but healthcare offers so many other opportunities. I encourage young professionals to explore public health, global health, healthcare consulting, EHR and digital health, health technology, research, and other emerging areas within healthcare.

Take the time to understand your strengths, interests, and potential, and then build your career around them. Your degree should not define or limit where you can go. Think outside the box, remain open to new opportunities, and choose a path that allows you to use your strengths and pursue your work with genuine passion and purpose.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is the rapid transformation of healthcare through technology, AI, and data-driven solutions. Healthcare organizations are under increasing pressure to modernize their systems and improve efficiency while continuing to maintain patient safety, data security, regulatory compliance, and quality of care.

From a project management perspective, another major challenge is successfully managing organizational change and stakeholder adoption. Implementing a new technology is only part of the solution; ensuring that clinicians, business teams, technical teams, and leadership are aligned and prepared for the change is equally important. My experience working with clinical teams, IT, leadership, and healthcare stakeholders has shown me how critical this alignment is to successful project delivery.

At the same time, I see a significant opportunity for experienced healthcare project leaders to bridge the gap between technology, clinical needs, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. With my background in healthcare, EHR/EMR implementations, project management, and cross-functional leadership, I see this transformation as an opportunity to help organizations adopt new technologies responsibly while improving operational efficiency and ultimately supporting better healthcare outcomes.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are integrity, collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and making a positive impact. In my professional life, I believe in taking ownership of my responsibilities, communicating openly, and working collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals. I also value continuous learning, particularly as technology evolves, and I actively look for ways to improve processes and deliver better results.

In my personal life, family, respect, and giving back to the community are very important to me. I believe success is not only about professional achievements but also about supporting others, maintaining strong relationships, and using my skills and experience to make a meaningful contribution.
