Hira Shafiq is the founder of Synapse Bridge AI, representing Tampa, Florida. With a background in analytics and IT, healthcare data sets, and financial services, she has approximately five years of experience in her field and holds a bachelor's degree. Hira built Synapse Bridge AI to transform unstructured clinical information into structured healthcare data and developed an AI underwriting system based on challenges she encountered in the commercial lending industry. She also pursues independent research into transformer efficiency and the computational and energy costs behind AI. Her diverse experience across industries has become a strength, allowing her to understand real-world problems from the inside and apply technology solutions. Hira values curiosity, integrity, resilience, and making a positive impact on society, and she encourages young women entering the field to take action, build things, ask questions, and let their work speak for them rather than waiting to feel fully qualified.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It's a very diverse field, not just IT-related. Don't wait until you feel completely qualified to start. AI is evolving so much every day. Entrepreneurship is about taking actions and moving quickly. Be curious, build things, ask questions, don't be afraid to enter spaces where you might be the youngest or one of the few women. Confidence often comes after starting, not before. Start building and let your work speak for you.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include questioning whether to fit into one specific box due to diverse background spanning healthcare data, financial services, and AI. Embraced unconventional pathways and realized diverse experience is a strength for understanding real-world problems from inside and applying technology solutions.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Curiosity, integrity, resilience, and making a positive impact on society. Curiosity pushes learning and building. Integrity is key when working with AI and data affecting real people. Resilience helps keep moving forward on non-traditional paths. Impact means solving problems to make a meaningful difference in people's lives.
