Her Story
About Hoda
Hoda Ehsan serves as Chief Learning Officer at the Da Vinci Science Center, located in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania. The center is a nonprofit STEAM education organization and the hub for pre-college STEAM education in the Lehigh Valley. In this role, she oversees everything educational at the science center, ensuring that all programs pass through her team. The organization recently relocated to downtown Allentown to better serve families in challenging environments, where less than 40 percent of adults have a high school degree, and provides free access through grants for Allentown School District families. Ehsan holds a PhD in engineering and attributes her success to her desire to make the world a better place for children by making education more accessible and meaningful. She draws from her experience fostering kids and emphasizes impacting even a small number of children positively. Her advice to young women entering the field is to pursue what interests them courageously, create their own journeys, and follow their hearts without copying others' paths.

Ten minutes with Hoda
01What do you attribute your success to?
To make this world a better place for children. A few years ago while fostering kids, I said my goal for life is to make education more accessible for kids and make their lives more meaningful. Everything I do today has an impact on even one kid. We should be proud of changing nine kids' lives.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
When I think about where I am today, it's because I had the courage to pursue what sounded interesting. Especially with a PhD in engineering, you have two ways: tech industries or become a professor. I decided maybe my route can be different. My advice to young professionals: believe in the fact that you can be creative to create your own journey. You do not need to copy other people's journey. Follow your heart, think about what you think is exciting at the moment, decide, make that choice and own it.
