Her Story
About Holly
I went to Western Michigan where I studied advertisement and promotion. From there, I took my first career step by accepting a role with The Hershey Company. Throughout my time with Hershey over the past 9 years, I've really loved the company, the people, and all the roles that I promoted into. I did people leadership for about 5 years, and that was my absolute favorite out of all the roles that I've done. Hershey is overall a great company to work for, and a fun industry - I mean, it's candy, so how can you not have fun? In my current role as Category Consultant, I focus on leveraging insights, tools, and capabilities. I work with retailers, making sure we're doing the deep dive research to ensure they're getting what they need and understanding the insights of the category, as well as the overall state of the business. In additional to working in the CPG industry, I also have a love for real estate! I’ve been an investor for almost 5 years now and have been able to create and manage a 7 figure portfolio!
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Holly
01What do you attribute your success to?
Everyone in my life that's given me advice, let me vent when things didn't go my way, and provided new solutions. Whether family, friends, or even people that I've worked with, there's been so many that have helped me along the way, even if it was just a 5-minute conversation that got me to my next step. Those moments have been incredibly impactful, and I'm grateful for all the support I've received from the people around me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Keep going. One piece of advice that I've always lived by is: I didn't come this far to only come this far. It's something that applies to everything in my life, whether it's a big career move or something small. It keeps me pushing forward and reminds me not to settle or give up when I've already put in so much effort.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do it scared! Anything worth doing that is going to move you forward in life will feel terrifying. Get out of your comfort zone and be willing to take those opportunities! The best things that have happened to me in my life came from risks where I felt like I was putting it all on the line.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The economy overall is the biggest challenge right now. It's tough times, and that impacts everything I'm doing in both CPG and Real Estate.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Relationships, whether that's with coworkers, family, or friends. That's always at the forefront- who am I working with, who am I connecting with. Relationships are the most important to me overall, and it falls into people leadership and connectability as my strong point.
