Her Story

About Holly

Holly Brooks serves as CEO and President of her own IT company, which she launched a year and a half ago after a mid-career shift. She brings 10 years of experience in IT following 15 years in healthcare, where she worked as a firefighter, respiratory therapist, and EMT. Brooks earned her MBA in project management from LSU in 2019, advancing rapidly from intern to director in three years at one company before founding her business. Her expertise centers on organization and leadership, standardizations, revenue improvement, project management, and consulting for MSPs, VARs, and other IT entities. She participates in women in tech organizations, local associations, and the IT Christian community, including high-tech Prayer Breakfast events. Brooks attributes her success to grit and willpower, having overcome a challenging upbringing with limited formal education by obtaining her GED and pursuing self-driven growth. She values integrity highly, drawing on her Christian faith in her professional decisions, and advises seeking mentors while maintaining faith amid future uncertainties. She notes AI as both a challenge and opportunity in her field.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Holly

01What do you attribute your success to?

Grit and willpower. I grew up extremely poor, so I knew what I didn't want to do. I left with one day of a 9th grade education, got my GED, and moved out when I was young. School of hard knocks.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Have faith, and worry about tomorrow's problems tomorrow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Find someone and ask them to be a mentor. I've had the same mentor for 8 years, and it's made a substantial difference.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges right now are AI, which is also an opportunity. It's taken away a lot of jobs. The automation process, it's good and bad, it depends on how you look at it.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity. I have stepped away from massive deals over integrity. I bring my Christian values into everything that I do.
