Her Story
About Holly
Holly Taylor, LVT, is a veterinary professional and software training specialist at IDEXX in Frisco, Texas. She brings approximately 15 years of experience in veterinary medicine, with the last two years focused on veterinary technology and practice management software training. In her current role, she supports veterinary teams nationwide by delivering hands-on training for software systems that streamline medical recordkeeping, invoicing, inventory management, referral workflows, and overall practice efficiency.
Her journey in veterinary medicine began with a lifelong passion for animals, healthcare, and hands-on work. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife, Fish and Wildlands Science and Management from Texas A&M University immediately after high school, while simultaneously working as a veterinary assistant during her undergraduate years. After spending time in the workforce applying her degree, she realized her true passion remained in clinical veterinary care. That realization led her to return to school later in life to earn an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology from Cedar Valley College, enabling her to become a licensed veterinary technician in Texas with reciprocity in several other states.
Throughout her clinical career, Holly spent over a decade with Banfield Pet Hospital and later worked in specialty and oncology care at MedVet. During the final five years of her veterinary technician career, she gained extensive experience using the practice management software she now trains others on, developing a strong belief in its value and usability. Naturally stepping into teaching and mentorship roles throughout her career, she ultimately transitioned into veterinary technology training after recognizing the physical and emotional demands of clinical practice. In her current position, she travels approximately 75% of the time across the country, training veterinary teams in workflow optimization and software utilization, and she hopes to eventually move into a learning and development role focused on training future trainers.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to trusting my own path and staying connected to what genuinely fulfills me. After earning my undergraduate degree and working as a veterinary assistant, I entered the workforce only to realize how deeply I missed the hands-on, animal-centered environment that originally inspired me. That realization guided me back into veterinary medicine, where I have spent the past 15 years building my career, including five years as a veterinary technician working closely with practice management software before transitioning into my current role as a traveling software trainer. Throughout my journey, I have combined a love of animals, a hands-on learning style, and a strong desire to help others, which naturally led me into teaching and mentoring roles. I take great pride in helping veterinary teams connect with technology in a meaningful way and watching them become excited about tools that improve their daily work and patient care.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't even let it enter your mind that women are ever at a disadvantage. We're smart, we're capable, we're talented, and the only thing that would ever hold us back, I think, is our own self-doubt. I've never felt like I was at a disadvantage because I was a woman. I just put my head down, I wanted something, I did it, and I feel like you can kind of get yourself into a self-doubt mindset and become your own worst enemy.
