About Hope
Hope C. Smith is an accomplished federal acquisition and contracting professional with approximately 30 years of experience serving as a Contracting Officer across multiple government entities, including the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Department of Defense. During the final three years of her federal career, she served as an Acquisition Advisor with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), where she leveraged her extensive expertise to provide acquisition guidance and support effective procurement strategies. Her career reflects a strong commitment to public service, strategic acquisition, and sound contract management.

She has also earned several highly regarded federal acquisition credentials, including DITAP (Digital IT Acquisition Professional), FAC-C (Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting), and DAWIA (Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act) certifications. These credentials, combined with decades of hands-on experience, have given her a comprehensive understanding of federal procurement, acquisition policy, contracting operations, and organizational decision-making.
Following her retirement from federal service in December, Hope has entered an exciting new chapter focused on entrepreneurship and financial empowerment. She is developing a professional real estate rental business built around her existing portfolio of four properties, including two houses and two condominiums in Maryland and Washington, DC. In addition, she provides guidance to federal government employees on retirement planning and related financial considerations, drawing upon her extensive understanding of federal careers and the transition into retirement. Through these endeavors, Hope continues to apply her experience, knowledge, and strategic mindset to help others build greater financial confidence while creating lasting opportunities for herself.
