Her Story

About Hosanna

I started my career in senior living in 2021 as a receptionist. After just 3 months, I was promoted to assistant sales director, and I really found my niche. I loved it and did that for 2 years before being promoted to sales director, which I've been doing ever since. Before senior living, I worked in billing for a doctor's office and was a nursery lead teacher at a daycare. I also completed CNA training when I was about 19 or 20, which helped shape my love for helping people, especially seniors who have my heart. I was a stay-at-home mom for a majority of the time, but when I got back into senior living, my career just kind of took off. I'm currently the director of sales at a pretty large senior living community in Cedar Hill, outside of Dallas. I'm responsible for independent living, assisted living, and memory care. I have an associate who helps, and I handle touring, closing, getting deposits, growing occupancy, and all the outreach and networking. What inspired me to get into this field was watching my mom deal with my grandfather who had Alzheimer's, and having to make the move from their dairy farm into assisted living. It was such a hard time for my mom and her sisters, and I thought it would be such a worthwhile career where you make good money but also feel like you're making a difference in people's lives. Memory care is really close to my heart. I've been involved with the Alzheimer's Alliance and have done the Walk for Alzheimer's. I recently moved from the Tyler area to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, so I'm still getting my bearings and trying to strengthen working relationships and grow new ones.

Ten minutes with Hosanna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say very supportive friends and family that I've had that have really mentored me. I've had several friends that were in healthcare, marketing, and sales, and they all just really pushed me to follow that career path and just encouraged me. So I would say that's probably that, and just the support of my husband.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Probably the best advice I ever received was to follow your dreams. I had someone tell me a while back that I would be really, really good at sales and marketing, and I had never done it, so I had no experience. I was like, I don't know, but they were like, no, you know, if it's something that you really want to do, because I said, well, I've always wanted to do it, and they were like, well, you just need to go for it. Like, if there's something that you feel like you would be really good at, even if you have no experience at all, just go for it.
