About Huma
My typical day is very people-oriented because human resources has a lot to do with policies and procedures, and it's also in the background - you don't really hear much from HR unless it's really important. There's a lot of confidentiality and privacy in place. I have meetings face-to-face or online with department heads in HR or hiring managers within different business units, and I also have a lot of touchpoints with potential candidates in the pipeline, wherever they are in the recruiting life cycle. Maybe I just spoke to them, maybe they are pending feedback from a hiring manager, maybe we're making them an offer. I do a lot of collaboration with the teams - maybe I need to partner with the benefits person on making sure that people sign up for certain benefits in time, or I have to partner with payroll. If I need data for a report and something is off, I might have to get in touch with one of the department leads and see if they can cross-reference the data that I'm sending to them for accuracy before I publish it or send it to a director. The rest of the time, it is about the mission of the organization, so a lot of my day is spent doing administrative tasks, managing the HRIS tasks that I have assigned to me or within the ATS system, following up on different HR issues that might come up - payroll, leave, benefits questions, inquiries about other opportunities within the organization, or training and development. I make sure that I'm doing my due diligence about anything that needs to be improved or has to be made more efficient. I'm usually a part of that kind of change management team.
