Hye Sook Jackie Kang
Hye Sook Jackie Kang is a seasoned educator, pastor, speaker, and coach dedicated to empowering individuals, particularly women, to live out their true callings. She began her career in New York City and New York State public schools as a classroom teacher and later served as an assistant principal for five years, honing her skills in educational leadership and student development. Driven by a passion for helping others overcome personal challenges, she pursued advanced theological studies, earning a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry with a focus on practical theology, global leadership, and the impact of anxiety on human well-being.
In 2019, Jackie founded the J. D. Network for Christian Formation, where she works closely with women to uncover their true identities and pursue fulfillment through purposeful living. Her approach blends coaching, mentorship, and life skills development, emphasizing empowerment through courage and clarity of purpose. She also serves as Interim Pastor at Restore Fellowship at PCNJ and as Pastoral Resident at Shelter Rock Church, integrating her ministry with practical guidance that helps individuals navigate life’s challenges and anxieties.
Jackie’s work extends beyond one-on-one coaching; she designs curriculum, leads small groups, and speaks to communities on leadership, anxiety management, and personal growth. Her dedication is reflected in the transformative experiences of those she mentors, often moving clients to recognize the next actionable step in their journey. With over 20 years in education, multiple advanced degrees, and active involvement in organizations such as the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterian and the John Maxwell Team, Jackie continues to inspire, equip, and guide others toward empowered, purpose-driven lives.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success first and foremost to my Creator, who has guided me and provided opportunities to connect with and learn from remarkable people. Beyond that, my husband has been an incredible source of support and empowerment, encouraging me to pursue my calling even when it means spending weeks away from home. My two grown children are also my biggest fans—they inspire and motivate me with their encouragement and pride.
I am equally grateful for my friends, some of whom I may not see every day, but when we reconnect, our conversations are always meaningful, filled with honesty, reflection, and laughter. These relationships provide a deep sense of connection, perspective, and joy.
Ultimately, my source of empowerment and fulfillment comes from these relationships and the blessings in my life. They remind me of what truly matters and fuel my passion for the work I am called to do.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I face is personal—aging. I’m no longer in my twenties, which means I need to be intentional about how I spend my time and energy, and to focus on the results of my efforts. This can be challenging because there are still so many things I want to accomplish, but I’ve learned the importance of being realistic and embracing my limitations.
At the same time, this awareness is also a blessing. It allows me to focus deeply on my true calling: helping people discover their identity and live fully. By prioritizing what truly matters, I can dedicate my energy to making the most meaningful impact.
