What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the ability to have a vision and then have the willingness to make it happen. I mean, the amount of things that I've done, a lot of people might not say I'm successful, but I would say I was very successful because I've done so many things. Success is not necessarily calculated or measured by the amount of money that you have. It can be by the skills that you have, the lessons that you learned, the wisdom that you developed. And I, in that term, have definitely gotten myself to that quality of success.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say have grace with yourself. If you don't have a mentor, because we weren't necessarily taught critical thinking in our generation, especially the younger ones, we were trained to work for another company. That didn't necessarily say you're going to need troubleshooting skills, scheduling skills, the motivation to do it yourself, time management, balancing your checkbook and accounting, reading legal ease, understanding the process of starting your own business, all the different numbers and paperwork you'll have to keep track of, and all the thinking you'll have to do for your mission, your outlook, and overreaching goals. Then you'll have to trickle that down to what the processes or priorities are of the day to get to your overreaching goal and your daily goal. I think we're not taught those types of things, but if you're young right now, this is what you need to be thinking about. I would say the sooner you're comfortable with motivating and self-starting yourself, the better you'll be at being successful at whatever it is that you want to do, whatever you can creatively come up with. There's somebody that wants to see you do it.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are grace, gratitude, patience, and humanity. I practice these values through gardening, which is both my profession and hobby. The same grace and gratitude you have to have with the flowers is the same grace and gratitude you need to have with yourself. I believe in visualizing completion and being able to see where things fit, like when you move into a new house and have to figure out where everything belongs. I value eating well, sleeping well, and having a great support system, though I know not everybody has that support within themselves as well as externally and internally. When you start feeling yourself hitting a wall, there's something you're imbalancing, and you have to reflect on it, whether it's not sleeping enough, not drinking enough water, not eating nutritional foods, or being too stressed out. Understanding those means of balancing yourself back out is how I've been able to develop and reach my goals and see every goal through, so I can be an example for young people because I have done a multitude of things and followed through on them. Definitely humanity and the ability that you need to really thrive here.
