Her Story

About Imelda

I am a volunteer who handles Christian service, working to help the underserved, unhoused, and immigrant communities. My professional journey began with 21 years in the corporate world before I transitioned to nonprofit work. I spent 8 years working with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as a chaplain focused on immigration issues. Following that, I dedicated 13 years to working with families of the incarcerated. The last 25 to 30 years of my career have been devoted to working with the church in different areas. Currently, I lead a team of five to six volunteers in Christian service, continuing our mission to help those in need. Beyond my direct service work, I serve on the executive board of the Faith Advocacy Council for the Department of Mental Health of Los Angeles County, a position I have held for 7 or 8 years. I am also a cancer survivor, which has been one of many blessings throughout my life.
