About Imelda
Imelda Smith is a seasoned nursing professional whose path into the field was shaped by personal family experiences with illness and inadequate care. Motivated by her uncle's cirrhosis and her grandmother's cancer battle, she pursued nursing after witnessing gaps in patient treatment. She graduated in 2009 and later obtained wound care certification. Her career includes roles as head of the wound care department and head COVID nurse at Kaiser, where she managed vaccines, inventory, and emergencies. Due to injuries from accidents, she currently provides private home care while completing a health science degree at Grand Canyon University. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, was inducted into the National Honor Society, and received a letter of recommendation from Dr. Chandler for her dedicated wound care. Imelda is deeply committed to patient advocacy, treating patients like family, and volunteers with Living Legends and Autism for Kids initiatives.
