Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Imogen’s journey from a curious student fascinated by machinery to an operations consultant is driven by a palpable passion for problem-solving. Whether she’s troubleshooting a conveyor belt on a manufacturing line or refining a scheduling process, she thrives on diagnosing issues big or small and implementing tangible improvements. For Imogen, the ultimate reward is twofold: simplifying workers' daily lives and amplifying their voices, often bridging the gap between the factory floor and management. Her proudest accomplishment to date is a recently published paper with Imperial College London, based on her 2021 healthcare operations work, which applied statistical process control to improve systems affecting millions. Open about the importance of mental health, she credits weekly therapy and unwavering family support as foundational to her success.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Her advice to young women entering this male-dominated field is to prioritize well-being and seek out female allies. Looking ahead, Imogen hopes to weave her personal passions for sustainability and fashion into her operational expertise, continuing to drive change where it matters most.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Right now, the biggest challenges in my field include managing staffing shortages, navigating complex labor relations, balancing recruitment demands with organizational needs, and keeping up with constantly evolving workplace regulations. At the same time, there are exciting opportunities to grow into strategic roles such as HR Business Partner, expand my influence in organizational leadership, and shape workplace culture and the overall employee experience. Outside of work, I have a passion for vintage fashion and enjoy exploring thrift stores to uncover unique treasures, which allows me to combine creativity with my love for sustainable style.
