About India

India Hobbs is a seasoned financial services executive, operations leader, speaker, and entrepreneur based in Greater Cleveland, currently serving as Founder and Executive Director of Operations, Home Care Companions & Associates, LLC. She began her career immediately after high school as an intern at MBNA, one of the largest credit card issuers at the time, which was later acquired by Bank of America. Over the course of more than two decades in banking and financial services, she advanced through multiple leadership roles across relationship management, credit, recovery, and portfolio management, ultimately overseeing complex, multi-billion-dollar portfolios spanning mortgages, deposits, auto loans, credit cards, small business banking, investments, and specialty assets such as boats and RVs. In 2013, she relocated to Delaware, where she expanded her expertise in enterprise recovery and multi-layered portfolio operations, earning a reputation as a trusted financial professional with deep analytical and operational strength.

Her career at Bank of America culminated in executive escalation and client advocacy leadership, including serving as an Executive Escalation Advocate supporting high-level resolution efforts tied to enterprise leadership, including CEO-level escalation pathways. In this capacity, she managed highly sensitive and complex client issues requiring cross-functional coordination, regulatory awareness, and precise decision-making under pressure. Known for her emotional intelligence, problem-solving ability, and calm execution in high-stakes environments, she became recognized for restoring client trust, mitigating risk, and driving resolution in some of the organization’s most challenging situations.

In 2017, India’s life and career took a pivotal turn when she received an unexpected call that her mother had been diagnosed with renal failure. She returned to Cleveland to become her primary caregiver, choosing family over career at a defining moment in her journey. During this time, she founded Home Care Companions & Associates, an organization she describes as her calling—built from her firsthand understanding of gaps in caregiving, workforce development, and emotional intelligence in the home care industry. Following her mother’s passing in 2019, she expanded her mission further, launching initiatives during the pandemic including a contactless care model and Inner City Trades, a 501(c)(3) focused on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and alternative income education for underserved youth. Today, she leads Home Care Companions & Associates and Inner City Trades while also serving as a director for the Better Business Bureau of Cuyahoga County and treasurer for another nonprofit, continuing her commitment to financial empowerment, community development, and ethical leadership.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with India

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would be remiss not to say the strong women and people in my family that I've seen before me. My spirituality, really - I had one of my clients ask me, if you didn't believe in God, who would you believe in? Of course, myself, and I'm gonna give myself credit. It took me a long time to get here. My ability not to give up, my ability to still have a heart, to still smile through it all, to still want to help others. I think my faith encompasses everything - it encompasses me, my family, my ancestors, and God. When you have strong faith, I'm happy hurting and healing. I may cry in the night, but the sun will always shine tomorrow. I refuse to let anything take away the God-given joy in my heart. Life is gonna happen anyways, but you've gotta keep going. That's it. Keep going.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Show up like you belong there, and no one will tell you that you don't.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I love the lake here in Ohio, I've always lived near the lakeshore. We have great metro parks here, so I love taking walks on the lake. I love volunteering. I really do love giving back. It sounds maybe cliche or weird or different, but I love giving back. I had to learn what I like for myself, because I was everything for everybody - the great wife for the husband, the great mom for the kids, the great daughter for the mom, and then when all those things started to shift, I had to ask myself, what am I for me? I like walking, I like walks along the lake, I'm a runner, I enjoy running as well. I like fine dining too. I like food I love food as an experience, and food is my comfort place. I'm working on being a minimalist and not accumulating a lot of stuff. What I do now, I really think is between me and God, and I'm really a person who is invested in making a difference in this world, and I think that starts with people.
