Her Interview

Ten minutes with Indira

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the discipline, passion, and strategic mindset my mother instilled in me. She was a strong, committed woman who taught us to work hard, honor our responsibilities, and persevere through challenges. Her example shaped not only my values but also my leadership approach: I lead with consistency, accountability, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose. The standards she set continue to influence how I make decisions, support others, and respond to obstacles.

I am passionate about helping businesses grow and people reach their potential. My strategic mindset enables me to identify opportunities, think long term, and turn challenges into practical paths forward. Discipline helps me follow through, while a commitment to learning and feedback keeps me adaptable and effective. Together, these qualities have strengthened my impact as a leader and allowed me to help others succeed. I have been fortunate to learn from people who challenged and believed in me, and I strive to offer that same support to future leaders, especially women pursuing careers in business and finance.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to lead with the long view: make decisions that strengthen the organization and create opportunities for the people who will lead it next. That perspective has shaped how I build markets, serve clients, and develop teams. I aim to look beyond the immediate transaction and consider the lasting value of each decision.

It has also made me think about the legacy I want to leave. I hope to be remembered as a leader who opened doors, invested in people, and helped businesses achieve what they once thought was beyond their reach. Results matter, but so do the leaders we develop and the opportunities we make possible for others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To young women entering banking, I would say: trust the value of your perspective. Working in a field where leadership has historically been male dominated can be intimidating, but you can be both confident and respectful. Stay true to yourself, stand firm in your judgment, and keep learning.

Build deep expertise and a reputation for following through. Understand the business, bring thoughtful solutions to difficult conversations, and make yourself someone others count on. When you consistently contribute to important decisions, you earn a seat at the table and the credibility that makes people listen when you speak.

As your influence grows, use it to open doors for other women. Leadership is strongest when it creates opportunity beyond your own career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in corporate banking is using AI to serve clients more efficiently. It can help us analyze information, streamline processes, and respond faster. At the same time, I believe we must be thoughtful about what we risk losing if we rely on technology too heavily: the human connection at the heart of relationship banking.

A business owner considering an acquisition or a major expansion needs more than a quick answer. They need a banker who understands their goals, asks the difficult questions, and stands beside them through important decisions. Trust is built through those conversations and through showing up consistently over time.

The challenge for our industry is to use technology to make bankers more effective while preserving the relationships that make our advice valuable. In my view, the banks that get that balance right will be best positioned to help their clients grow.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family, integrity, and growth are the values that guide me. Being a present and loving mother to my daughter and son, and a supportive wife, matters deeply to me. My mother gave our family a foundation of strength, commitment, and hard work. I want to carry her legacy forward and show both of my children that they can pursue their ambitions while staying devoted to the people they love.

At work, integrity means earning trust, honoring my commitments, and making decisions I can stand behind. I also believe in continuing to grow. That belief led me to pursue a DBA in Strategy and Innovation at this stage of my career. I want my children to see that learning and ambition have no expiration date, and that success is most meaningful when it reflects the values you live by.
