Her Interview

Ten minutes with Irene

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the excellent education I have received, the support and encouragement of my family and the environment in which I was raised, and my natural curiosity and strong desire to continue learning. I have also been guided by strong willpower, determination, and the talents and abilities I was fortunate to develop throughout my life. Together, these qualities have given me the foundation to pursue opportunities, overcome challenges, and continue growing both personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came from one of my professional advisors, who reminded me that I have many talents and a strong will, and that I would likely pursue many different opportunities throughout my life. That advice has proven to be true. However, the most important part was the reminder that no matter what I choose to do, I must always remain grounded and maintain a solid foundation. I have carried that perspective with me throughout my career, and I believe staying grounded has been essential to my success.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities in my field right now is artificial intelligence. I was introduced to AI in the 1980s by pioneers who helped establish the foundations of the field beginning in the 1970s, and I have continued to follow its evolution throughout my career. Since 2008, I have worked in fintech and contributed to training various AI models, and I see this as an important part of my professional journey. As artificial intelligence continues to evolve beyond software development and toward customer success applications, I see an exciting opportunity to apply my experience and help shape the next stage of innovation in fintech.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are strong moral and ethical standards, integrity, friendship, and love. I believe in maintaining a solid foundation of principles and treating others with respect, honesty, and compassion. While some may consider these values old-fashioned, I believe they remain timeless and essential to building meaningful relationships, earning trust, and living a fulfilling life.
