About Irene
I am a graduate instructor, program administrator, and emerging leader in higher education and student development, currently serving as Vice President of the Student Communication Organization, a part-time leadership role I have held since August 2025, where I contribute to student engagement and organizational development. I am also a Graduate Instructor at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, a position I have held since August 2022, where I facilitate classroom instruction, grading, and assessments, offer student support through office hours and mentoring, contribute to course material preparation, promote discussions, integrate technology, and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports diverse learners.
In addition to my instructional role, I have served as School Director's Assistant, providing strategic planning support and managing announcements, and as PRSSA Assistant, where I developed skills in Canva and branded content. I have completed internships including Residential Program Manager at Boston College, where I supported pre-college students' development and engagement, managed program budgets and inventory, and supported leadership to residential staff. I also served as Program Office Administrator and Scholar Support Advisor at WorldStrides, where I streamlined daily camp operations, coordinated logistics for field trips, maintained camper files, optimized check-in and check-out processes, and supported high school scholars during their academic residency at Yale University.
I hold a Master of Arts in Communication from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from the University of Cape Coast.
Across my career in education, program administration, and student development, my work has been driven by a commitment to supporting student success, fostering inclusive learning environments, and helping young people develop the skills they need to thrive. Whether I am in the classroom, managing residential programs, or supporting scholars, I bring strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a dedication to making a positive impact on the academic and professional growth of the students I serve. I am proud of the work I have done and excited to continue building my career in higher education and student development.
