What do you attribute your success to?
I enjoy learning and listening to people who know more than I do. I like to surround myself with individuals who are smarter and more experienced, because there is always something to learn from them. I have always stayed focused on what I want, setting goals in a way that allows me to achieve them.
I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by great people and outstanding professionals who have guided me along the way, and that has played a key role in who I am today. I believe in allowing myself to be guided by others, and I value education deeply.
Being a lifelong learner is the key to growth.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My prior boss once told me to always be grateful and thankful for what you get and for what others do for you. She also taught me to always learn from others. I always keep that with me.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If you're passionate about helping people, if you're passionate about your community and about the growing of, in this case, the Hispanic community, and if you're always looking for an industry where you can grow and learn about everything, the mortgage industry is one of the best. You have to be a lifelong learner and growth-oriented, and definitely be adaptable.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field include managing the emotional weight of wanting to help every client while facing situations where approvals aren’t possible, navigating the cyclical nature of the mortgage industry, and keeping up with constant regulatory and product changes. At the same time, there’s a significant opportunity to expand homeownership, particularly within the Hispanic community, and guide first-time buyers toward achieving their dreams.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty is the most important value to me. Always be yourself and always stay true to who you are. And, of course, having God as the main guidance in your life and in your home is essential.
For me, the most important things are God and honesty. When you put God first and allow Him to guide your path, it becomes easier to find balance in everything else.
