Her Story
About Isabel
I've always really loved people, and that's kind of the only thing I've ever really felt I was necessarily great at. I was never super strong in certain academic fields or had any real strong passions to pursue anything specific, but I was always such a people person. I love public speaking and I've just never been uncomfortable presenting and talking to people. I just assume everyone's a potential friend, or just an untold story that I can tap into. In college at San Diego State, I found that my school had a leadership minor, so I decided to try that out, and it's just something I've always really loved. I tend to gravitate naturally towards really great, successful relationships with most people, and I get along with everyone. With leadership, it's a lot easier to build trust and get people to follow what you expect of them because they trust and know that you're gonna lead them well and ethically. I majored in communication and minored in leadership and Spanish, spending a semester in Spain, and graduated in May 2025. Through my network, I landed my current role as general manager of Goop Kitchen, Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle wellness food brand, where we're opening the first in-real-life, full-service restaurant in Del Mar, California in August. I'll be overseeing about 100 employees. I think I make people feel very comfortable quickly and trusted quickly, and that skill has definitely helped me get ahead a little faster, because people will look out for you when they like you.

Ten minutes with Isabel
01What do you attribute your success to?
Definitely my network. Definitely my network, especially in my role now, I don't think this is something that a young professional would typically be taking on, but my network is strong, and I had a lot of people that are looking out for me. Somebody reached out about this role and thought I'd be good for it, so here we are. So definitely my network, but also my just natural curiosity for others. I think I make people feel very comfortable quickly and trusted quickly, so I think that skill has definitely helped me get ahead a little faster. Because people will look out for you when they like you, right?
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say it's important to have a good fulfilling life outside of work. I think for me, that's really what makes me so much more confident at work is being really content and fulfilled with what I do outside of it. So I love working out, and I'm very social, and I see my friends every weekend, and I really try to fill my cup outside of work, because I think when you feel good, everything else just kind of flows naturally. You know, you are a lot more confident, and you feel really good going in and trying new things, and you're not as scared, because you just have that fulfilling element within yourself that keeps you going. So I think really filling your cup outside of work is important, and also just confidence exercises and reminding yourself how you got here, why you got here, and that you deserve to be there is huge. Yeah, I would say those are my biggest pieces of advice.
