Isabel Melgarejo
Isabel Melgarejo is the Founder of Tum Coeur, where she is dedicated to empowering family caregivers to navigate one of life’s most complex and emotionally demanding journeys. She is a bilingual care planner, public speaker, and podcast host committed to helping individuals move from overwhelm to clarity and confidence. Through her platform and her podcast, A Time to Care, Isabel fosters meaningful conversations around caregiving, self-care, and future planning advocating for a cultural shift where caregivers are better supported and no longer feel alone.
A lifelong entrepreneur, Isabel began her journey at just 13 years old selling jewelry door-to-door, laying the foundation for a career defined by initiative and innovation. Trained as an engineer, she went on to build and lead a sustainability consultancy in Mexico for over a decade before relocating to the United States in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she faced significant immigration-related challenges that delayed her ability to work, prompting her to quickly pivot and become a certified home organizer. Through this work and informed by her own lifelong caregiving experiences she recognized a common thread among her clients: many were caregivers struggling to maintain balance and control in their lives. This insight inspired her to combine her project management expertise and creativity to design a structured, compassionate approach to caregiver support.
Through Tum Coeur, Isabel developed a proprietary method that guides caregivers from uncertainty to clarity helping them identify their needs, navigate difficult conversations, and establish sustainable routines that support both their loved ones and themselves. She has since expanded her work into a growing community where she hosts weekly sessions focused on self-care, caregiving, and communication. In addition to leading Tum Coeur, she serves as Head of Delivery at Minus 2 Degrees, where she drives strategic initiatives in sustainability and project execution. With a full-time team member and additional collaborators supporting her mission, Isabel continues to scale her impact bringing empathy, structure, and purpose to caregivers and communities alike.

What do you attribute your success to?
I think not giving up, being consistent, and knowing that things are going to work. When you work on your mindset and pay attention to your thoughts and how they are impacting your life, you can actually figure things out easier. It's about staying committed even when things are hard and believing in what you're doing.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Isabel’s journey has been shaped largely by her personal experiences as a caregiver, along with professionals and communities that support caregiver wellbeing and mental health.e with her two dogs, which brings her a sense of balance and joy in her day-to-day life.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think it depends on where in their journey they are, but something consistent throughout would be to work a lot on your mindset. Whatever it is, there are things that are easy for some and very hard for other people, but when you work on your mindset and you pay attention to your thoughts and how they are impacting your life, you can actually figure things out easier. Your mindset work makes everything else more manageable.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is that people are not necessarily looking for these services. Like with a puppy trainer, you might not know you need one until you actually get a puppy. People don't necessarily know they can find support when they are in their caregiving journey. They might be struggling, but they don't realize there are professionals and programs available to help them navigate it. That awareness gap is one of the biggest challenges I face in reaching the people who need this support.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Empathy, balance, honesty, and self-care are at the core of my values. I firmly believe that to effectively support others, I must first prioritize my own wellbeing. Outside of my professional responsibilities, I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, and staying active, all of which help me maintain a healthy perspective. I also deeply value the time I spend with my two dogs, as it brings a sense of balance, joy, and grounding to my everyday life.
