About Isabelle
Isabelle Sanhou serves as Founder and Director of the African Immigrants Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit she founded in 2020 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As an immigrant herself from the Ivory Coast in West Africa, she brings personal insight to her work supporting immigrants and refugees through case management, service delivery, and community health initiatives. She partners with organizations including Loads and Fishes, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Michigan Works, the DHS office, Family Help Center, and 211 to connect clients with resources while providing hands-on guidance. Sanhou holds a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University, a community health worker certification, and certified nurse aide credentials. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in social work and medical interpreter certification. Fluent in English, French, Lingala, and Swahili, she translates documents and facilitates access to services for the community she serves.
