Her Story
About Isabelle
I have been in the media industry for 16 years and have been at YouTube for nearly seven years as the Data Architecture for YouTube Marketing. I started with a Bachelor of Finance from my hometown, and when I came here, I literally started in the e-commerce business. Coming from an underdeveloped country, I understood that media shifts a lot of the perception of people around who we are, and that money also plays a huge role. That's where I found the sweet spot for me between media as a driver of people's perception and how people perceive the world and how things move around. I ended up in a role where I am making use of my finance background while using media as a driver to shape the perception around how people see or perceive things around the world. My most notable professional achievement thus far has been working on all of our COVID-19 campaign for YouTube marketing.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Definitely, I would say God first and foremost. God has been protecting me, watching over me. I think once you have God and you understand that there is no fear, that you have all the skills given to you by the Creator, it really helps you uncover what you are capable of doing. With that, I always told myself that there's nothing that I could not achieve. It's always about looking at making connections and looking five years ahead, planning my next career move. I'm always trying to see how I can bring new technology and fresh skills that are up on the market to my own work environment. I did not stop at just looking at how to reinvent myself. I'm always asking, what is the next thing that I can do to add to my career, to my portfolio, to my resume? And I'm always, based on the connections that I am making, helping myself by planning three years already in advance for that career move. I have mentors that are three levels above the level that I am at, and having those people shape me and give me the advice that I need so that I can then create my own career path. That has been my key to success: having the mentors that are helping me understand what are those things that are being spoken in the rooms where I'm not in.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Definitely, I think one of the key things that I would tell them is the sky is the limit. Do not let fear define how far you can go. Be open-minded and disrupt the status quo. Any challenge that comes in your way is a solution for you to be built or discovered, so definitely push the envelope of what you are capable of doing. Being a woman does not stop the capability, the skills, or the experience that you can acquire in that journey.
