Her Story
About Isha
Isha Joseph serves as an agent in the family entertainment, health, and wellness industry. She began a face painting business at a young age with assistance from her grandmother, which evolved over 16 years from a one-person operation into a children entertainment agency employing 15 artists. The agency provides high-quality face paint, balloon art, glitter tattoos, and other entertainment options for children's birthday parties as well as professional sports teams and corporate events. Isha held various part-time roles during high school and college, including work at an indoor playground and cafe, serving positions, and on-campus jobs. She graduated in 2020 amid the pandemic, which altered her original plan to join the Peace Corps in Guatemala for two years. After working corporate jobs until restrictions lifted in Florida, she focused on her business and has spent the last four years traveling nomadically, transitioning to an agent role while handing operations to the artists. Isha is also a yoga instructor and a professional West African dancer who recently spent the first four months of the year in Guinea, West Africa, studying with masters. She attributes her success and drive to her grandmother and her mother, who built everything from scratch after moving from Trinidad and Tobago and navigating challenges with a thick Caribbean accent. A recent trip to Guinea inspired new gratitude, discipline, and consistency in Isha. She advises young women entering the industry to do it before feeling ready, noting that a loose plan is sufficient and one can build as they go.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Isha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success and drive to my grandmother who helped me start the business at a young age, and especially my mother who built everything from scratch after moving from Trinidad and Tobago, navigating challenges with a thick Caribbean accent, becoming a homeowner multiple times. My recent trip to Guinea sparked a new sense of gratitude, discipline, and consistency.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do it before you feel ready. A loose plan is okay, but do not wait until you know everything or feel fully prepared. Start and build as you go.
