Her Story
About Ivelisse
My career in healthcare spans 33 years, and I've been with Modernizing Medicine since its inception, going on 15 years now. I started in the support realm, then moved into operations, then into the order management area, and now I'm in client services under tech services doing product enablement, a position I've held for 3 to 4 years. Throughout my career, I've worked across several verticals - oncology, dermatology, and orthopedics - in both private sectors and private offices. I've done the whole 360 realm, from front-end check-in and check-out to back-end insurance authorizations, training people, onboarding, setting up processes, and implementing entire EMR software systems in orthopedics. Now being on the technology side of an EMR, I understand our practices' pain points when they're implementing new software and how nervous they are and the hardships they're going through. As a product enablement team, we focus on setting up our practices on a timely basis because we know the anticipation of a provider starting and all the work that goes behind that. My typical day involves multitasking to the hilt - I don't have 2 or 3 days that are consecutive. Every day is a new discovery, a new area being exposed that needs intervention or help, a new process to figure out, constantly determining how to make things work. It's a whole collaboration of sometimes unexpected events. I'm also a clinical research associate and have done extensive protocols for oncology and orthopedics - research is a passion of mine, especially working on devices to get them across to FDA approval for orthopedic surgeries.

Ten minutes with Ivelisse
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my leaders. Definitely. I look to them, and they're great examples of how leadership should be emulated.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is just to do my best.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be flexible, be open-minded. Just make sure that you have multiple swim lanes. Don't think this is the only way to do it - you've got to be able to switch at a moment's notice. You have to be adaptable.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now are new technology that's constantly changing, the scope of our work, and how we take care of patients. We're a technology, we're an EMR service, so we're always thinking of ways for our providers to give the best care to their patients and save them time. AI is being introduced, and it's like, where does the handshake begin and end? It is enlightening, and honestly, you're always learning something new.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me in my work and personal life are integrity, honesty, and openness. I also think a lot about how I show up - am I empathetic? Am I approachable? My dedication to my company and the integrity that I maintain are what define me.
