Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ivonne-Marie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my family’s values—my parents’ dedication to education, my grandmother’s commitment to justice and doing what is right when it feels like the world is against you, mother’s determination, and my father’s strong work ethic. For my grandmother, while she passed recently, I want her to know that her sacrifices weren't in vain, and that I am running full-force toward the opportunities she always envisioned for us.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to be intentional about the people I surround myself with. Building genuine relationships, finding allies and sponsors, and having people advocate for me in rooms I’m not in can create meaningful opportunities.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to build authentic relationships and understand who is truly in your corner. Surround yourself with people who will advocate for you, and recognize that your passion and intensity are your superpower.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field have also created opportunities for growth and leadership. My journey in financial services has taught me the importance of resilience, embracing change, building authentic relationships, and using my experiences to advocate for greater inclusion and create opportunities for others.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are building genuine relationships, doing what is right, and maintaining a strong work ethic. I believe in being authentic, holding myself and others accountable, and always giving 100% in everything I do.
