Her Story

About Jacey

My journey into the green industry was deeply influenced by my family. My dad has worked in this field for a long time, and I grew up around his work friends and colleagues at Ewing, a family-owned company that really cares about you and your success. After spending two years as a support professional working with adults with special needs, I moved back to Texas looking for a different career path. Given my family's background in the green industry, I started with Ewing in a BDR sales role about four years ago, and it just developed from there. Now, as an account manager for the past two years, I manage around 200 key accounts spanning from Austin to North Texas. My days are filled with budgeting projects, quoting materials, managing commercial project timelines, and maintaining persistent customer outreach. My expertise centers on everything related to outdoor landscape and irrigation - what I call the green industry. This year, I achieved significant growth in my hardscape sales category, increasing it by $400,000, which stands as one of my most notable professional achievements.

Ten minutes with Jacey

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my mother, Cassey and grandad, Bruce who are the most hardworking and honest people in my life. They've been incredible role models who demonstrated the values of hard work and honesty that have shaped my approach to my career. Their influence has been foundational to everything I've achieved in this industry.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to have a Sherpa mentality. This means understanding that you carry the load together as a team - you won't get very far unless you're also helping your team and you're all working together. It's about recognizing that success isn't individual, but collective, and that supporting each other is essential to achieving meaningful progress.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be confident. You do know what you're talking about, and you don't have to do something for 25 years to be just as knowledgeable and just as good as your male counterparts. This industry is very male-dominated, especially in the sales area, but it's come a long way in the past four years. Don't let the lack of experience intimidate you - your knowledge and capabilities are just as valid, regardless of how long you've been in the field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is the lack of women's representation. This industry is very male-dominated, especially in the sales area, though it has come a long way in the past four years with more women being hired for sales positions specifically. The biggest hurdle is representation, knowledge, and proving yourself - showing that you definitely know what you're talking about just as much as the men in the industry who have been there for a long time. It's about demonstrating that we have the expertise and capability, regardless of gender or tenure.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are reliability, authenticity, and honesty. These principles cross between my personal and professional worlds and guide how I approach relationships, business interactions, and my daily responsibilities. Being someone people can count on, staying true to myself, and maintaining honesty in all my dealings are the foundations of how I operate.
