About Jacina

I always enjoyed psychology, studying the people's mind, studying a person, to understand why we do the things that we do, why do we think the way we think. When I first started out 7 years ago, I helped adults with substance abuse and any type of mental illness. I was their main person on their care team, making sure they had their medications, proper transportation to appointments or court or even to the store. I made sure the nurses were administering their medication on time, and I helped them fill out paperwork for Social Security or SNAP assistance for food. It was a very person-centered type role. After that, I started working with children, doing basically the same thing but minus the substance abuse, so it was more mental and behavioral health with children and families. I helped parents set up school meetings if their children were having problems with school, if their grades were failing, if they needed extra assistance. We made sure they were able to get an individualized plan together with the school so they could get the proper help they need. I also helped parents overcome any barriers that could prevent children from reaching that truancy stage in school. Now I have started my own behavioral health company working with children. It's a family-run business, and I am president. We are Medicaid funded and contract with the city, the state, local schools, court systems, probation, and different school districts. We send employees in to work side-by-side with families, helping parents and children with mental and behavioral issues that need resolved in school, or if they need any community services like food banks or clothing. I also do facilitating and training. I recently worked with a foster care agency on training their employees, and I do a lot of training with different businesses in the mental and behavioral health industry on crisis interventions, de-escalation, nurturing parents, and whatever training they need. I just enjoy helping people, no matter the age.
