About Jackie
Jackie Arredondo is a vocal coach specializing in preparing raw talent for professional success. She began coaching by developing her singing by sensation method after traditional book-based teaching yielded little progress with raw artists. Arredondo incorporated unorthodox techniques such as having students train on treadmills with weights on their abdomens to build vocal strength. She has collaborated with major record labels including Warner Chapel, Universal, and Sony Music Latin to elevate artists from raw talent to star quality material. In 2002, she contributed to the first reality singing competition show for Hispanic networks as a consultant and later on-camera coach after a contractual issue led to her unexpected role. Arredondo spent 16 years working on 11 reality shows annually and served for the final 10 years of Sabado Gigante on Univision as president of the expert panel, training contestants and co-producing segments. Her work has extended to 53 countries. Throughout her career, she balanced professional demands with raising a family while forgoing a return to school to pursue opportunities at Sony Music Latin.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Well, I would advise them that this is a shot-in-the-dark opportunity. There's about 4% that actually make it to stardom. You need an education, you need a Plan B. The industry has changed a lot with AI and social media. Get as much knowledge as you can. Do not treat music as a hobby. Treat it like a business. You need a background so if one thing doesn't work you can be involved in something else in the industry. And not ever give up on their dream. Out of 100 doors that you knock, one has to open.
