About Jackie

Jackie Dozier serves as Director of Community Health and Well-being, overseeing a team of 51 independent contractors. In this role, she manages all aspects of community engagement around prevention, education, and health, including providing prevention education to women and girls across the spectrum, particularly around HIV and AIDS and healthcare. She created an event over 20 years ago that continues today as an annual program with evolving themes focused on educating women and girls around healthcare. Dozier has over 25 years of experience in her field, which she describes as her purpose in life. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration as well as AAS degrees in community mobilization from Los Angeles Community Mobilization School and Bryant and Stratton. She attributes her success to building relationships within the community and with collaborative partners. Dozier is actively involved in mentoring, having created and implemented workshops for girls ages 8 to 18 and hosting weekly sessions in the city school district and community. She has mentored four young women who have earned their PhDs, including Kanethia Wilson. She values honesty, transparency, and respect in her work and personal life. Among the challenges she notes in her field are funding issues related to cuts in prevention education programs and the impacts of racism and DEI concerns on community engagement and well-being. Her advice to others includes lifting up those coming behind you and building a village of like-minded people in the industry.
