About Jacqueline
I started my career as a NICU nurse and worked at the bedside for about 10 years. During my 7th year of bedside nursing at a Navy hospital, I was chosen to be a super user when the Navy standardized their EMR system, transitioning from Clinicomp to Cerner PowerChart. That experience opened my eyes to the intersection of technology and nursing, and my colleagues told me I was a good educator who could help them understand technology in their language. This sparked my interest in nursing informatics, so I went back to school and earned my master's degree in the field. About 2 years ago, I joined Phillips on their patient monitoring unit as a clinical solution specialist, where I educated nurses, conducted super user classes, and served as a liaison for go-live support between technical field workers and clinical leadership. Then in April of this year, because of my NICU background and personality, people at Phillips recommended me for a new position in sales for fetal monitoring. I applied and got the job, and now I work as an OB account manager selling fetal monitors to L&D units and OBGYN clinics. I manage these accounts on an ongoing basis, serving as their point of contact for expanding or replacing equipment. I love this role because I didn't realize how well my personality traits and the relationship-building skills that nursing taught me would mesh with sales. As a teen mom who graduated high school with a baby, I've learned to take my journey one step at a time, and I'm passionate about mentoring other women in nursing and young adults in my church's youth ministry, showing them they can beat the odds.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say take the journey one chunk at a time. Don't look at the nursing journey as an overall experience, but take each step of the journey one bite at a time, growing and giving yourself the timing to grow and to learn who you are and how this profession will shape you for the future.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being a woman leader and a Christian woman leader gives me the accountability of paying attention not just to how I execute things, but how well I include people in the journey. Learning how to lead women to get closer to God has helped me build relationships personally that I can now translate in my day-to-day job, because we all come with different stuff, and having to navigate and be inclusive has really helped me in my professional life to deal with different types of people and yet still have one common goal. I also make sure to give room for reading books, both professional and spiritual, and checking in with myself.
