Her Story

About Jacy

Jacy Barrow is a Hospice Registered Nurse and Patient Care Manager at Heart to Heart Hospice in Azle, Texas, where she is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care during life’s most meaningful moments. She began her healthcare career in 2017 as a Patient Care Technician at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital and quickly developed a strong passion for nursing and patient advocacy. This drive led her to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2020 and begin her journey as a Registered Nurse.

Throughout her career, Jacy has gained diverse clinical experience across medical-surgical care, outpatient infusion, pediatric home health, and hospice services. She has served in roles including RN Case Manager, Clinical Leader, and Patient Care Manager, managing complex patient needs while coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams. Her experience has strengthened her ability to build trusting relationships with patients and families while ensuring high-quality, holistic care.

Jacy’s commitment to hospice care is deeply personal, inspired by the loss of her best friend, who received hospice services during her final days. That experience shaped her calling to support patients and families through end-of-life care with empathy, dignity, and compassion. Today, she continues to lead with purpose, overseeing care teams, managing patient caseloads, and ensuring that every patient receives thoughtful, respectful, and individualized support.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jacy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the Lord, first and foremost, and then to having empathy and patience with people. I've learned a lot in hospice - everyone has good days and bad days, and I've learned not to take anything personally. These qualities have helped me navigate the challenges of working with patients and families during their most difficult times and have allowed me to grow in my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was not to listen to all the haters who say you can't make it - just keep pushing. I had a lot of people who said that I would never become a nurse with everything I had going on, but I feel like I've made it happen and made it thrive. That advice to ignore the negativity and stay persistent has been invaluable to my success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the healthcare field would be to be persistent and to have confidence. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. Keep pushing forward even when things get difficult, and believe in yourself and your abilities.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field right now are around communication. Sometimes things aren't openly promoted or made available, and there can be a lack of communication that creates barriers. It's important to keep opening doors and keep knocking on doors to find opportunities and overcome these communication challenges.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are family and faith. These two things guide everything I do and help me get through any challenge. They are the foundation of who I am and how I approach my work caring for patients and families.
