About Jada
I've been in digital media, journalism, and content creation for about six or seven years now, running my own business consistently since 2019. Before stepping into media full-time, I was a FIBA athlete playing international basketball, which opened doors for me to earn my degree from Fordham University with zero debt. After retiring from playing, I worked as a basketball and volleyball coach at the high school and college levels across different divisions, spent 10 years in corporate America as a social worker, and did substitute teaching among many other things. Now, my main focus is digital media production and consulting, particularly working with former and current student athletes. I help them navigate social media and secure NIL deals, which high school and college students in New Jersey and New York can now access. I'm passionate about getting people in the room with me. When I started going to red carpet events and got approval to come back, I began bringing teams of student athletes with me so they could interview people, get in front of and behind the camera, take pictures in the pit, and build their portfolios and networks. I've led teams to cover major events like the BET Awards in California and the Oscars, where we were actually in the room when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Right now, I'm working on a proposal to partner with the City of Newark, where I'm from, to create media opportunities as Netflix breaks ground here and production companies flood the city to film. I want to provide jobs and connect the community to this thriving media movement. My day-to-day involves emails, social media management for clients, digital media consulting and networking, producing content across various platforms, delegating teams to cover events like WNBA games for the Mystics and Liberty, and working on voiceover narration, ghostwriting, and podcasting. I partner with different magazines and publishing outlets like Monarch Magazine, Swag Her Magazine, and Urban Girl Magazine to give them exclusive content from the events we cover. Although I'm frustrated sometimes because 20 years after college things don't look exactly how I wanted, I know I'm still making waves and making a difference for my people by getting them in these rooms and creating opportunities.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
How to be resilient. Because even when you plan, sometimes the planning don't always work out. So, still just getting up and trying, and getting up and getting it done, and still letting their voice be heard, letting their work be seen, letting their movement be felt. Still get up and do it, even when it's negative zero in your bank account, and you can't see how it's gonna get through. The sun gonna come out tomorrow. Just keep pushing. Keep pushing, keep going. Somebody out there getting it. Somebody's out there connecting. Somebody out there gets it.
