Her Story

About Jada

I work primarily with trauma kids on Medicaid, and I felt led by the Lord to do this field because I used to be a foster child myself. I know how they feel, I know what they're going through, I understand it, and I can support them better and show them that even though life has dealt them a bad card, they don't have to stay stuck and that they can still rise above all of the chaos that is their life at the time. My main area of expertise is anything related to mental health, counseling and therapy. I also provide coaching for families and foster families, so I predominantly work with the family, and my specialization is in child and adolescent development. In a typical day, I handle the crises that pop up with these kids, whether it's things that are going on at home that they're struggling with or things that are going on at school. I visit and go to the schools and see my clients there for the most part, and then if we have family therapy later, that's something that I also do. Since I was a kid, trauma friends used to gravitate towards me, and I was always the caretaker, helper, or whatever for friends, so I think my whole life just kind of led me to this field.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to be from the Lord, and from the support that I have of my friends and my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is to pray about my clients before I get them, and to ensure those boundaries. We work with these kids, and their cases are so devastating, and you want to - for me, I want to adopt them all. I can't do that. So, just learning how to put those emotional boundaries on has been one of the best things that I've learned.
