About Jade

Jade Decker is a solopreneur and Creative Director specializing in creative direction, marketing, and strategic storytelling. She began her career approximately a decade ago in social media marketing, which provided the foundation for her expertise in graphic design, video production, content strategy, and digital marketing. Today, Decker focuses on creating vertical short-form video content for social media that effectively communicates her clients’ brand stories and connects them with their audiences. Her work combines creativity with strategic thinking to help organizations communicate their missions and strengthen their digital presence.

Decker holds a bachelor’s degree in Sustainability Studies from Stony Brook University and an MBA with a specialization in entrepreneurship from Quantic School of Business and Technology. Her educational background reflects her commitment to both business and social impact and complements her work with mission-driven organizations. Her clients and collaborations have included organizations such as Creative Pathways, an arts nonprofit in the Boston area, as well as a former urban farm client. Through these experiences, she brings together her creative expertise and passion for social, economic, and environmental impact.

Decker attributes much of her success to the relationships she has built throughout her career, with word-of-mouth referrals and professional connections playing a significant role in the growth of her business. She believes that strong relationships, trust, and collaboration are essential to building lasting success. Her advice to young women entering the field is to fully embrace opportunities when they arise, give them their maximum effort, build meaningful professional networks, and continually develop new skills. She also emphasizes the importance of adaptability and resilience, recognizing that success often comes from having the confidence to navigate uncertainty and make the most of every opportunity.

Ten minutes with Jade

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to the relationships I have built throughout my career. My business has grown largely through word-of-mouth referrals and the strong professional relationships I developed with former managers, colleagues, and other members of my network. These connections have not only opened doors to new opportunities but have also provided a strong foundation of trust, collaboration, and support that has contributed significantly to my success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is that nobody truly knows exactly how the world works or what the future will bring. While that uncertainty can feel intimidating, I find it comforting to remember that everyone is navigating uncertainty in some way. In business and throughout my career, I have learned that success is not about having all the answers, but about having the confidence, resilience, and adaptability to handle whatever challenges and opportunities come my way.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the marketing industry is to make the most of every opportunity, especially the ones that may initially feel like a lucky break. When an opportunity comes your way, give it your full effort and approach it with dedication and purpose. Invest in building meaningful professional relationships, continuously develop new skills, and take ownership of your career and professional growth. Your success will ultimately be shaped not only by the opportunities you receive, but by how intentionally you prepare for and maximize them.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is significantly disrupting the marketing field, creating both exciting opportunities and meaningful challenges. On the opportunity side, solopreneurs and small marketing teams now have access to a broader range of tools that enable them to create more content, work more efficiently, and compete at a higher level. At the same time, the rapid adoption of AI is leading some business owners to reduce the size of their marketing teams, resulting in fewer traditional roles and increasing expectations for marketers to develop a broader range of skills. As a result, professionals who can combine strategic thinking, creativity, technology, and adaptability will be especially well positioned to succeed in the evolving marketing landscape.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is the foundation of everything I do, both professionally and personally, and it is non-negotiable. I believe in being honest, accountable, and consistent in my actions, even when no one is watching. I strive to treat others with respect, honor my commitments, and lead with transparency and strong ethical principles in every aspect of my life.
