About Jade
Jade Johnson serves as an estimator at Boeing in St. Louis, Missouri, preparing government proposals for aerospace projects that range from typical commercial aircraft to specialized military components. She previously led recruitment and admissions at the non-profit Prescolis, coordinating events and outreach to help individuals pursue cyber and IT opportunities through non-traditional paths. Her career also includes government recruitment work and a period as an estimator for State Farm focused on property assessments. Johnson has received recognition through features on banners in downtown St. Louis. She attributes her professional growth to staying open to new opportunities and applying communication skills that enable her to discuss issues and reach consensus with colleagues at varying levels. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I've always been open to opportunities and try to be an open-minded person. My communication skills help me talk to people from different levels and come to a consensus on issues. I pick up different things that help in any situation.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get outside your box. What's the worst that can happen? If someone taps you on the shoulder for an opportunity, ask questions, do pros and cons. Overcome fear to be as successful as you want to be.
