Her Story

About Jade

Jade Nadal serves as a Project Management Coordinator and IT Analyst at Exelon in Baltimore, Maryland. She has been in the field for two and a half years, having joined through the Year Up United workforce development program after attending community college. The program matched her with Exelon for a six-month internship, after which she was recommended for hire following four months. In her role, she focuses on schedule, resource, and financial management, along with some contract management. She was assigned to the project management track and has grown to love the field. Jade values the people and company culture at Exelon, particularly the support, camaraderie, and collaboration she experiences from colleagues at all levels. She attributes her success to her mother, who worked tirelessly in various jobs after the family moved from VR to New York and then Maryland, eventually owning a cleaning company, instilling in Jade a strong work ethic and perseverance.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jade

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say it's my mom. My parents moved here about 30 plus years ago from VR. We lived in New York for a little bit, and then we moved to Maryland. Just seeing how my mom worked so hard over the years, even my dad, they continue to work any type of job just to make ends meet, but they still made the best of it for their children. She really persevered a lot in her time, and I saw a lot of that as a kid. Now she owns a whole cleaning company.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think what I value more is the people, family-wise and also work-wise. Like, the company culture, especially what I've seen at Exelon is just, like, the support. The camaraderie, the collaboration, how people are always there to support you, no matter where you are, no matter the title you have. VPs and directors, and they treat me as an equal. Just having that, especially when you are entering such a diverse corporate environment, or just a corporate world entirely.
