Her Story
About Jai
Jai Altenor is the founder and director of the Call to Create nonprofit, which she is developing to provide creative resources, employment opportunities, and mental health support to neurodivergent creative youth in impoverished urban communities. She also maintains an online creative studio mentoring younger creatives on industry navigation, credibility, and education. Her professional background stems from the arts, having attended a magnet high school in Miami Gardens, Florida, where she was mentored by playwright Terrell Alva McCraney. This led her to pursue a graphic design degree from Broward College and later a degree in media entrepreneurship at Georgia State University after relocating to Atlanta, Georgia. She has self-published works, built a local name through speaking and poetry, and been involved in community advocacy such as March for Our Lives for gun violence prevention, covered by outlets including the Miami Times and Herald. She has associations with the Hope Advancement Group and YMCA.
