Her Story

About Jalisa

Jalisa Jackson serves as Refund Compliance Manager at Hello MD, a role she has held for approximately seven months. In this position she is building the company's refund compliance department from the ground up in support of the No Surprise Act. She brings nine years of experience in revenue cycle compliance, having previously worked at Regional One Health where she handled billing and coding, managed provider contracts, and ensured the accuracy and timely payment of health claims. Jackson began her career in an entry-level collector position and advanced through hands-on learning without initial formal credentials. She is currently enrolled at Western Governors University pursuing a bachelor's degree in health information management. Outside of work she coaches her daughter's competitive soccer team, leads a community outreach exercise program in local parks, and donates to shelters with her daughter. She values accountability and open communication above all and advises young women entering the field to take a leap of faith, avoid fitting into others' boxes, and simply be themselves.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jalisa

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be scared, especially if your background doesn't fit. Take a leap of faith, step out there, find something that fits your personality. Don't try to fit in anyone's box, just be yourself.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is keeping up with the changes in the industry, like being in school all the time studying policies and laws to stay compliant.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Accountability and communication are most important. Communicate whether it's a mistake or something prideful, and taking accountability has done well for me.
