About Jameshia

I've been working in Applied Behavior Analysis for 5 years, and I'm currently a Registered Behavior Technician at Golden Steps ABA. I transitioned from being a clinic manager back in February to focus on accumulating all of my unrestricted and restricted hours, since I'll be done with school in spring 2027. What led me into this field was originally wanting to work with juveniles in juvenile justice, doing forensic psychology. In undergrad, I discovered behavior analysis, and I just saw the need that was there for people who have a strong passion for families and children who have developmental disabilities. I wanted to make sure that I was contributing something to the field that was surrounded by people who truly cared and were excited to push and see those results. I've loved it ever since the first moment that I have been able to see the change and the growth and the positive effects that ABA has on the lives of children and in the lives of the families. My day-to-day work involves preparing clients for school transitions, using visual schedules, antecedent strategies, timers, and the Premack principle to help with transitions and tolerance. I work on helping children complete 2-3 step instructions, practice generalization with different adults, develop emotional regulation skills, and reduce maladaptive behaviors. One of my most notable accomplishments was being the youngest clinical manager in my company, a role I held for 10 months. I have a children's book coming out in June that's surrounded by children who are affected by autism, teaching them ways how to interact and helping the general public understand that children with autism or any type of developmental disability or who are neurodivergent communicate in a little bit of a different way.
