What do you attribute your success to?
I think I've had some really great mentors in my life. Some really great managers, which was very helpful. Yeah, definitely some really great mentors going through the field. And I've had some ones that weren't so great, to be honest, and then I would turn to the ones that were good and say, hey, help me navigate this. Having those people to turn to and learn from has been crucial to my success.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to be comfortable and confident to speak up when needed. Basically, ask questions, don't be fearful of it, there's no stupid questions. If something doesn't feel right in your tummy, that little feeling you get, you know, ask questions. Something feels off, ask. Feel confident in your knowledge of your industry and say something, you know, not like accusatory, obviously, but say it in a nice way, learning communication. Feel that confidence, because you got this far as a person because you are educated enough in your industry. Sometimes you do bring new things to the table by speaking and saying, hey, I don't get this, and it can open up a whole new world to do something differently. Or ask when you need help. Like, if you feel like you're drowning in things, you might be like, hey, anyone have bandwidth today and need XYZ help? Some people think that's a weakness. I think it's one of the strongest traits someone could have.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I grew up dancing all my life, taking dance class in the city, performing, that kind of thing when I was a little bit younger. Now I definitely still enjoy working out and reading a book when I can. Unfortunately, you know, streaming services, I start binging way too much sometimes. I'm like, this is, I gotta walk away from the TV. I should be reading a lot more than I used to do. But definitely working out, hanging out with my dog, just taking time to breathe for myself. I can feel that - walk away for a while, breathe, do something good for you, and then go back and be with your friends and family.
