Ten minutes with Jami
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to more than 21 years of experience in trucking and logistics, combined with a strong commitment to service, reliability, and doing things the right way. I take pride in providing exceptional customer service at competitive rates while keeping both customers and carriers informed throughout every step of the shipping process. My extensive industry knowledge, strong carrier relationships, and white-glove approach allow me to manage every detail, from securing customers and quoting freight to coordinating shipments, selecting the right carriers, tracking loads, and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately. I am especially proud of helping establish and grow a refrigerated LTL division that did not previously exist, using my expertise and industry relationships to create new opportunities and deliver value to customers. Ultimately, I attribute my success to putting people first, building trust, staying knowledgeable about the industry, and consistently following through on my commitments.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received has come from my mother, who has been one of my greatest supporters and most influential role models. She has shown me the importance of being dependable, generous, resilient, and always willing to step in when someone needs help. Her unwavering support has been especially meaningful throughout my journey as a mother and during my recovery from a serious car accident that required multiple surgeries. She cared for my children for months so I could focus on healing, never hesitating or asking for anything in return. Her example has taught me the value of showing up for others, offering support without being asked, and remaining strong through difficult seasons. Today, I am fortunate to consider my mother not only my mentor and greatest source of strength, but also one of my closest friends.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would give to young women entering my industry is to develop a thick skin and not take every interaction personally. The industry can be challenging, and you may encounter people who are difficult or unpleasant, but it is important to stay confident, focused, and professional. Believe in your abilities, remind yourself that you know what you are doing, and do not let difficult moments discourage you. Stay committed, persevere through the challenges, and never give up because it is a rewarding industry with tremendous opportunities for women who are willing to stay determined and confident.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field often go hand in hand. The logistics industry requires me to manage constant communication, competing priorities, tight deadlines, and unexpected challenges while maintaining a high level of service. I have embraced those challenges throughout my career, particularly when I joined a company that had never operated a refrigerated LTL division and had the opportunity to help build it from the ground up. Drawing on more than two decades of industry experience and strong carrier relationships, I was able to become a trusted resource in refrigerated LTL logistics. My career has also taught me the importance of adaptability, resilience, and being open to new opportunities. As I look toward the future, I remain committed to bringing the same sense of responsibility, compassion, faith, and dedication to every new chapter while continuing to build meaningful relationships and make a positive impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, responsibility, and respect. My Christian faith is a strong foundation in my life and guides how I treat others and approach challenges. I believe in taking ownership of my actions, honoring my commitments, and being someone others can depend on. I also believe strongly in treating people with kindness and respect, just as I would want to be treated.
