About Jamie
Jamie McKay is the fleet manager for Aptive Pest Control, a nationwide pest control company. In this role, she manages approximately 2,400 vehicles. McKay joined the company about six years ago following a COVID-related layoff. At the time, Aptive was seeking to fill a fleet manager position that had not previously existed within the organization, allowing her to establish the in-house function. She attributes her professional drive to a desire to be recognized as the best fleet manager in the field and to progress into executive or leadership positions, such as director of fleet management, while ensuring she does not fail in the corporate environment. McKay advises emerging professionals to ask questions, absorb all available knowledge, identify personal strengths and weaknesses, and seek out mentors to address areas for improvement.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I want to be the best at what I'm working on. So for me, it's going to be, how do I be the best fleet manager that's out there? Like, I would just that's what I want to be known for. And really, you know, I'm itching for that executive or that leadership role. You know, you're in the corporate world, or a home office world, and you know, so for me, what's driving me is I don't want to fail, and so I'm gonna do everything I can to not fail.
