Her Story

About Jamila

I have dedicated over 14 years to the early childhood industry, where I served as Assistant Director at Blessed Child Daycare until the owner retired and we closed. My expertise spans early childhood education, administration, office management, and executive assistant work. I hold a director's credential for administration, which I consider my most notable professional achievement. Currently, I am completing my bachelor's degree in education for EC through 6th grade at Texas Women's University as I consider my next career move, whether that's continuing in early childhood or transitioning to the public sector. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work under good directors who have shaped my professional journey and contributed to my success in the field.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to good directors. Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to work under directors who have guided and mentored me, helping me grow in the early childhood field.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would give them patience. You know, to go in this industry, you have to have a lot of patience, not just with the children, that's one side of it. I know you have the patience to work with children, but patience also for working in early childhood itself. Once you get experience, I'd say about 6 months to a year experience, have patience with your director, because things are constantly changing. So you need to make sure that you exercise patience, not just to stay where you are, but to actually grow in the industry. It's gonna take a little bit of patience for the process.
