Her Story

About Jamilah

Jamilah N. Lawry is a business consultant, AI SaaS founder, and strategic growth leader serving as CEO of My Biz Consulting LLC. She is the creator of the Business Solutions Center™, a consultant-led ecosystem designed to help entrepreneurs and organizations identify operational gaps, clarify strategy, and implement intelligent systems for scalable, sustainable growth. Her work focuses on integrating business operations, technology, and marketing into unified frameworks that transform complexity into structured, results-driven systems.

Through her consulting practice, she specializes in AI integration, workflow automation, CRM and systems alignment, marketing strategy, and operational optimization. She also leads a broader ecosystem that includes media and community platforms such as In Da Streets Radio and the nonprofit Inspire Da Streets Inc., alongside business infrastructure services like virtual mailbox operations. Her approach blends strategy with execution, offering hands-on implementation support in addition to advisory consulting, with a strong emphasis on measurable outcomes, scalability, and digital transformation for both small businesses and established organizations.

Her professional journey is rooted in transformation and resilience, beginning with early life challenges that led her into workforce development programs and ultimately higher education at Philadelphia University, where she studied management information systems and behavioral analysis. This combination of technology and psychology shaped her ability to understand both systems and human behavior in business environments. Over more than two decades, she has built a multidisciplinary career spanning consulting, AI systems, entrepreneurship, and media. Her work reflects a core philosophy of breaking limitations, building integrated business ecosystems, and creating opportunities that extend beyond profit into community empowerment and long-term impact.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jamilah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perspective, resilience, and a commitment to breaking generational cycles. Growing up, I witnessed both the promise of success and the consequences of unfulfilled potential through the experiences of my parents, who worked in the entertainment industry. Those early lessons taught me the importance of discipline, accountability, and creating a different path for myself.

Coming from a family with deep musical roots, many expected me to follow a traditional entertainment career. Instead, I forged my own path through business, technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership. That determination to define my own future—and to create a different legacy for my children—has been the driving force behind everything I've accomplished. It continues to motivate me to help others transform challenges into opportunities and build lives and businesses that create lasting impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the best pieces of career advice I ever received was to stop thinking small and start thinking in terms of scalable ecosystems rather than single businesses. I was encouraged to study models like Uber and other disruptive companies that create value through systems, partnerships, and innovation rather than relying on a single revenue stream.

That advice fundamentally changed how I approach entrepreneurship. Instead of focusing on one business or one opportunity, I began thinking strategically about how multiple ventures, technologies, and services could work together to create greater impact and long-term sustainability. It gave me the confidence to expand my vision, embrace bigger opportunities, and build businesses designed for growth. Today, that mindset continues to guide me as I focus on creating interconnected ventures that drive innovation, empower communities, and generate lasting value.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to women entering my industry is simple: stay focused, trust your vision, and do not let anyone make you shrink your ambition. Too often, women who are multi-talented are told they are “doing too much” or that they need to choose one lane. I do not believe that. I believe every woman carries an ecosystem of ideas, gifts, and opportunities within her.

For me, building across technology, consulting, and media advertising was not a lack of focus—it was strategy. Each piece connected to the bigger vision. So my advice is to explore your talents, test your ideas, and build the ecosystem that already exists in your mind. Do not let status quo thinking, fear, or other people’s limitations become your boundaries. Keep going, knock down the walls, and give yourself permission to become everything you were created to be.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is that everyone seems to be a consultant. Wake up, create a social media profile, watch three YouTube videos on AI, and apparently you're an AI strategist by lunchtime. The barrier to entry has become incredibly low, which can make it difficult for clients to distinguish between genuine expertise and good marketing.

The unfortunate reality is that many clients come to me after they've already invested time and money with someone who promised big results but lacked the experience to deliver. In many ways, I'm often helping businesses recover from "consultant fatigue" before we can even begin the real work.

At the same time, this challenge creates a tremendous opportunity. As AI and digital transformation continue to reshape every industry, organizations need trusted advisors more than ever. The opportunity isn't just in implementing technology—it's in helping people cut through the noise, make informed decisions, and create strategies that actually drive results. In a crowded marketplace, experience, credibility, and proven outcomes matter. The good news is that while anyone can call themselves a consultant, not everyone can consistently deliver transformational results.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and personal life are clarity, impact, and community.

In my professional life, clarity is everything. One of the reasons clients choose to work with me is because I don't believe in wasting time with generic discovery calls that lead nowhere. Instead, I've built a structured assessment process that helps us identify challenges, opportunities, and goals before we ever get on a call. By the time we connect, we're not spending time figuring out the problem—we're already discussing solutions. That level of preparation allows my team and me to provide more strategic guidance, faster implementation, and better outcomes for the businesses, brands, and organizations we serve.

On a personal level, community and family are at the center of everything I do. Success, to me, isn't measured solely by revenue or business growth—it's measured by the lives we impact along the way. I believe in creating opportunities, sharing knowledge, and supporting others, whether through mentorship, community initiatives, business guidance, or simply showing up when people need help. I've always believed that you can build successful businesses while still making a meaningful difference in the communities that helped shape you.

At the end of the day, my mission is simple: create clarity, generate results, and leave people better than I found them. Whether someone becomes a client, a partner, or a member of my community, I want every interaction to create value and move them closer to their goals.
