About Jamilah
I have been in my current field approaching one year as of May 26th, 2025, when I started as a Client Relations Director for Forest Solutions. Our company was acquired and merged with three other companies, and I now serve as Client Relations Manager for Opensity Solutions. In my role, I oversee printing services, mailing departments, and hospitality services for one of our major clients, Mayor Brown, LLC, a major law firm that started in Chicago, Illinois. I work at their Charlotte, North Carolina location, managing everything from morning meetings to lunch with clients and evening events. My background includes 13 years in hospitality operations, where I served as a General Manager with Marriott Hotels. This hospitality experience has been invaluable in my current role because I understand the ins and outs of food, banquet events, and ensuring every detail is perfect, even down to the proper placement of silverware. When I transitioned to this different field, I brought those hospitality features with me - instead of touching every guest, I'm now touching every client and making sure all of our clients are satisfied with our hospitality services. As a director, I had the opportunity to oversee seven different sites including financial institutions, call centers, and law firms, and my hospitality experience allowed me to make an impact on each account. My goal is to become a VP of Operations for an outsourcing company or a company dealing with hospitality, because I know my abilities and I know that I take care of people that I work with. I'm very much employee-driven and focused, and I want to continue to climb and succeed.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My most notable professional achievement has been working with this outsourcing company and proving that my hospitality background could translate successfully to a new field. During my yearly review with my previous manager, I met and exceeded company expectations in every category. He told me he was hesitant on hiring me because I had so many years in the hospitality field, and he just wasn't quite sure if I was going to be able to transition into an outsourcing company with my operations background in hospitality. But as a director, I had the opportunity to oversee seven different sites - financial institutions, call centers, and law firms - and my hospitality experience allowed me to make an impact on each one of our accounts because of my hospitality background. My mother, who is from England and came to the U.S. when my dad was in the military overseas, always instilled in me and my sister that you never just stop because you're comfortable and the job is what you like to do. She taught us to always achieve the highest of the highest. I know my abilities, and I know that I take care of people that I work with. I'm very much employee-driven and focused, and I just want to continue to climb and succeed in whatever job that is, working in hospitality or an outsourcing company.
