About Jana
I was born in Czech Republic, moved to Sweden, then Finland, South Africa, back to Czech Republic at age 18. I had to learn Czech again and prepare for law school entrance exams which are extremely competitive. I did law school in Czech Republic, then internships abroad including big law firms, UN, second LLM in New York, and law school in England. I came to the United States in 2009 with $2000 and built my career in the Bay Area through hard work including restaurant jobs while studying. This journey made me independent, resilient, and a hard worker which shapes my practice today as managing partner helping tech startups and mentoring young lawyers.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Ask what kind of law interests them and their education stage. Share my story of big vs small firms. Emphasize getting internships during law school, learning AI and legal tech to stand out as junior attorneys despite being new. Help them navigate applications and resumes while in law school.
